Using the calculators without an account
The calculators run in your browser. If you don't save your household, the details and spending you enter are not sent to us.
If you save your household
When you choose "Save my household", we store:
- your email address, to send you a sign-in link and, if you keep it on, a monthly leak report;
- the age groups in your household (not names or birth dates);
- the monthly grocery amounts you enter, and an optional savings goal.
We use this only to show your budget, your progress and to send the emails you asked for. We do not sell or rent your data and do not share it with advertisers. Data is stored with our database provider (Supabase, in the United States) and emails are sent through our email provider. They process it only on our behalf.
Emails
You can turn off the monthly report in My household, or use the unsubscribe link in any email. Sign-in emails are sent only when you request one.
Cookies and tracking
We use no advertising or analytics cookies and no third-party trackers. If you sign in, your browser keeps a sign-in token in local storage so you stay signed in. Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (such as IP address and pages requested) for security. If we add analytics or advertising, we will update this page first and, where the law requires it (for example for visitors in the EU or UK), ask for consent before setting any non-essential cookie.
Deleting your data
You can delete your account and everything stored with it at any time from My household. Deletion is immediate.
Links to other sites
Some pages may link to stores such as Instacart or Amazon, which have their own privacy policies. See our affiliate disclosure.
Children
HouseholdLeak is meant for adults and does not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
